Berger Award
June 24, 2008

The National Contract Management Association is pleased to name Bob Fryling as a posthumous winner of the Albert Berger Outstanding Chapter Leadership Award. While we are pleased to honor Bob with this award, we also know that may others share the opinion that the award is well deserved.

The Albert Berger Outstanding Chapter Leadership Award was established in 1998 to provide a means of giving special recognition at the national level to those volunteers who demonstrate superior chapter leadership achievements in support of their chapter’s goals and activities. The award is named to honor the memory of a former National President of the Association and one of the early leaders of professional development in contract management. Mr. Berger was the President of the Government Contract Management Association of New York, Boston and Philadelphia Chapters. Mr. Berger was one of a small group of professionals that got NCMA started, and he set a superb example for volunteer leaders through personal commitment and mentoring of other potential leaders throughout
his more than 39 years as a member of NCMA. Al knew that dedicated leaders are the foundation of a successful professional association. It is appropriate that this award carry the name of an individual who demonstrated high regard for the Association by a lifetime of leadership and service to its members.

The Albert Berger Outstanding Chapter Leadership Award is the highest honor the Association bestows for volunteer leadership activities.
